The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 1.04 crore pushing the national recovery rate to 97.05 percent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The total infections have mounted to 1.08 crore. The death toll increased to 1,54,392 with 118 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,04,34,983 pushing the national COVID-19 recovery rate to 97.00 percent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.44 percent.
The COVID-19 active cases fell for 25 days in a row. There are 1,68,235 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.56 percent of the total caseload, the data stated.
India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
According to the ICMR, 19,70,92,635 samples have been tested up to January 31 with 5,04,263 samples being tested on Sunday. Till date, the ministry has vaccinated 37,58,843 healthcare workers, with 14,509 workers being tested on Monday.
Centre rushes high level teams to Kerala and Maharashtra for supporting the States in public health interventions for COVID19 management. While the rest of the states are showing a decline in number of cases, these two states are contributing to 70 percent of the cases. The teams deputed in the states will take a stock of ground level scenario there and recommend necessary public health interventions to contain the large number of cases they are reporting.
