Ritesh Agarwal, the founder and CEO of OYO Rooms, on Tuesday, tied the knot with Geetansha Sood at the Taj Palace. The 30-year-old billionaire also hosted a grand reception at a five-star hotel in Delhi post the wedding.

The wedding saw the presence of industry stalwarts such as SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son. Son reached India at 11 am to attend the wedding ceremony. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also was present at the wedding.

Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel also attended the wedding. Patel shared pictures on Twitter congratulating the couple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, and other VIPs were also expected to attend the reception.

Celebratory firings at weddings and other events are unfortunately common in India and often result in injuries and deaths. The videos of celebratory firing at a wedding in Chhattisgarh have gone viral prompting the police to act against the perpetrators.

The video of the wedding of Congress District Panchayat Vice-President Raghvendra Pratap Singh’s son showed the bride, groom, and other family members firing from pistols in the air. The guests can be seen cheering and applauding. The police have seized the weapons along with 47 live rounds from Raghvendra Pratap and his son Shantanu, reported news agency ANI.

The incident happened on February 10 at Jangjir Champa during Shantanu’s wedding reception. Several political leaders were in attendance, eyewitnesses told ETV Bharat. As the video of the celebratory firing went viral on social media platforms, the Pamgarh Police Station launched a probe.

ASP Anil Soni said that gun rules were violated and the police have directed the district collector to cancel the gun licence of Shantanu and Raghavendra. The police also submitted a report of the incident to the district collector. Soni added that the police had seized the weapons and ammo as a preventative measure.

As the bullets fired from these weapons can travel a long distance, shots fired in such a way can hit unintended targets. The use of firearms during celebrations is illegal in India under the Arms Act of 1959.

In case of injuries or deaths, perpetrators can be charged under Section 302 (murder), Section 307 (attempt to murder), and Section 336 (endangering the life of others). Even in the case of no injury, the Arms Act of 1959 makes celebratory firing, even with licenced guns, at weddings and similar occasions punishable with two years imprisonment and a fine. Despite the legal prohibition, the practice still persists in many parts of India.

The big day of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani is finally a few hours away. Celebrations for the much awaited Bollywood wedding of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani will kick off on Sunday. According to reports, the duo will tie the knot at Jaisalmer’s Suryagarh palace on February 6. They were seen arriving in Jaisalmer on Saturday.

The bride-to-be, Kiara Advani, landed at Jaisalmer airport with fashion designer Manish Malhotra on Saturday. Her father Jagdeep Advani and mother Genevieve were clicked at the airport.

Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra was spotted leaving Mumbai later in the day and arriving at Jaisalmer airport, dressed in black. He was accompanied by his family members. His father Sunil Malhotra, a former captain with Indian Navy, was spotted arriving at the airport.

No phone policy inside wedding venue: Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani reportedly announced a no phone policy at their wedding functions. The guests of both bride and groom have been requested not to post any pictures of the wedding on social media, News 18 reported.

Guest list: The wedding will be attended by close friends and family member. Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput, Isha Ambani and Varun Dhawan are likely to attend the wedding on Monday. Earlier, reports said that 100-125 guests would attend the wedding besides the families of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani.

80 rooms booked: About 80 rooms have been booked in the Suryagarh Palace of Jaisalmer for the wedding. Along with this, around 70 luxury cars have also been booked to ferry the guests.

Kiara Advani brother Mishaal to dedicate special song for the couple: A report in Bollywood Hungama stated that Kiara Advani’s brother Mishaal Advani will be singing a special song for the couple at their sangeet ceremony.
