Sunrisers Hyderabad will play against Lucknow Super Giants on their home ground in Hyderabad, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The weather of the city is likely to impact Wednesday’s game as the city has received heavy rain in the last 22 hours.

SRH needs to win 2 matches out of the remaining 4 to qualify for the playoffs and so is with LSG. According to AccuWeather updates, the city is expecting thunderstorms in the evening. There is a 40% chance of rain at 4 PM IST which might exceed till 7 PM.

The Sunrisers find themselves in fierce competition for the top four spots with Kolkata Knight Riders (16), Rajasthan Royals (16) and Chennai Super Kings (12) stationed above them on the points table. The winner of the duel will leap into the playoff race.

The Pat Cummins-led side has ample talent but has been unable to hold on to a winning run recently. Sunrisers have lost three of their last four matches, mainly because their destructive batting line-up hasn’t delivered.

Earlier, SRH was unable to capitalise on the Powerplay, losing the wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh. However, Head and Reddy scored 96 runs off 57 deliveries to resurrect SRH’s innings while Heinrich Klaasen (42 not out of 19) provided the final flurry.

In ominous form till a few days back, Sunrisers Hyderabad dropped out of the top four on the points table after suffering back-to-back losses against wooden spooners Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings where they failed to chase down totals. Without their in-form bowler Mustafzur Rahman, Chennai Super Kings will need to sharpen their all-round game when they take on an unpredictable Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Friday. Consistency is the hallmark of CSK who would be looking to restore “normal service” following their first loss of the season against Delhi Capitals.

Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, made headlines with his impressive bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Tuesday. The Mumbai Indians pacer picked his first IPL wicket after dismissing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Arjun claimed his maiden wicket off the penultimate delivery of the match to wind up Hyderabad’s innings. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma completed the catch off Arjun’s delivery to secure a 14-run victory for the side. It was a special moment for Arjun, who made his IPL debut just a few days earlier. The Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma, gave the 23-year-old bowler the final over of the match, and Arjun did not disappoint his skipper. While the Mumbai Indians already had a dominating grip on the match, young Arjun stuck to basics and pitched his deliveries outside off to keep the ball away from the batter’s arch. The accuracy in Arjun’s bowling finally gifted him his first IPL wicket.

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Harry Brook hit the first hundred of IPL 2023 as he notched three figures in his team’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Garden on Friday.

KKR captain Nitish Rana won the toss and asked SRH to bat first.

Brook first stitched a 46-run partnership with his fellow opener Mayank Agarwal. With SRH openers going steady Rana asked all-rounder Andre Russell to bowl for the first time in the season. Russell struck instantly as he picked the wickets of Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi in his first over.

With SRH losing two quick wickets, Brook slowed down a bit in his approach. The young English batter then played a pivotal role in stitching a 72-run stand with his skipper Aiden Markram. During the course of the partnership both Brook and Markram reached their respective half-centuries.

While it was the fifth IPL half-century for Markram, Brook had reached fifty for the first time in his short IPL career.

But Markaram lost his wicket soon after reaching the fifty in a bid to up the ante. Falling wickets did not deter Brook as he then built another 72-run partnership this time with young left-hand batter Abhishek Sharma.

Brook reached managed to reach triple-digit mark in the last over of the SRH innings as he worked a delivery by Umesh Yadav down to long-on for a single.  Brook became only the third SRH batter after David Warner and Jonny Bairstow to notch a century in the IPL.

Brook remained not-out on 100 after playing 55 balls. During his stay in the middle the 24-year-old hit 12 fours and 3 sixes.

SRH had landed Brook during the IPL 2023 auction for an eye watering sum of Rs 13.25 crores.  Brook has played 102 T20 games and has scored 2461 runs at an average of 32.81 and has a strike rate of 146.66.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are in a desperate search of their first victory of the season as they host the high-flying Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. Punjab haven’t lost a game in this campaign so far whereas Hyderabad are simply struggling to get going at the moment.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad at 3:30pm on Sunday in their respective first game of the 16^th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The previous year’s runners-up will take on a reinvigorated SRH setup under the leadership of their stand-in skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Aiden Markram is supposed to captain the franchise this season but he is currently engaged in international commitments representing the South African national team in their on-going One Day International (ODI) series against the Netherlands. Hyderabad finished eighth in the points table last season and they opted for a complete overhaul by releasing skipper Kane Williamson and heading into the auction with a massive purse of Rs 42.5 crore.

They acquired English middle-order batsman Harry Brook for Rs 13.25 crore and similarly spent Rs 8.5 crore to get Indian opener Mayank Agarwal on board. RR opted for minimal changes to their squad but they added some notable overseas stars to their setup like Joe Root and Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa.

These players are unlikely to make it to the playing XI but add significant depth to their squad in case they end up making it to the latter stages of the tournament. They have addressed a major drawback in their XI by securing the services of Caribbean all-rounder Jason Holder who will most likely occupy the number seven spot in the XI.

Abhishek Sharma (SRH)

The talented all-rounder scored 426 runs in 14 games last season and the dynamic stroke-player will look to better his run-scoring record in this campaign. He can maximise the hitting opportunity in the powerplay overs and can also pluck a wicket or two by delivering some economical overs in the middle-overs.

Jos Buttler (RR)

Butter notched 863 runs in 17 encounters last season and he will hope to pick on from where he left last season. His incredible form was one of the key reasons behind RR’s success last year and the Royals will need him to replicate similar form for them to potentially go one step ahead and lift the IPL trophy this year.

The average first innings batting score is 196 in the two T20Is played in this stadium and that suggests that a potential run fest is on the cards on Sunday.
