The worship of Lord Ram holds profound significance in the Hindu religion, especially on the auspicious day of Ram Navami. This day is one of the most significant Indian festivals, celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, the seventh avatar of God Vishnu. Celebrated on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha in the Chaitra month, Ram Navami also marks the conclusion of the Chaitra Navratri.

Devotees engage in rituals, prayers, and spiritual gatherings to celebrate the divine incarnation and virtues of Lord Rama.

Ram Navami 2024: Puja Rituals

Begin your day by waking up early and taking a holy bath.

Cleanse the home temple and decorate it with flowers. Arrange the puja material for the Ram Navami puja.

Place the idol or image of Lord Ram and start the puja by meditating in front of the statue.

After meditation, one should stay in Aavahan Mudra and chant a mantra in front of the murti.

Next, offer five flowers and a seat to Lord Ram while chanting the mantra.

After offering a seat, Lord Rama’s feet are washed with water (Padya offering); continue chanting the mantra.

Post this, offer water to Lord Rama for Abhishekam.

Devotees will then have to offer water to Lord Ram for Achamana (drinking).

Then comes Madhuparka, offering honey and milk next while chanting the mantra.

Next, offer water to Lord Ram for a bath, which is called snanam.

After snanam, give a bath of panchamrita (a mix of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar), saffron, milk, and Ganga water to Lord Ram.

Now, offer Moli as new clothes to the Lord.

After the vastra offering, offer a sacred thread (Yajnopavita) to Lord Ram.

Next, offer a scent while chanting the mantra.

Now, offer flowers while praying to the Lord.

Next, take Gandha, Akshata, and Pushpa in their left hand and worship those gods, who are body parts of Shri Ram (Anga Puja) and leave them near the Murti with the right hand while chanting the Lord’s name.

After that, offer Dhupa (incense sticks), Deep (lamp), Naivedya, Phalam (fruits), Tambulam (paan with betel nuts), and Dakshina (a gift) to all deities.

Last, conclude the puja by performing an aarti, offering pushpanjali, pradakshina, and seeking kshamapana (apology).

This time, his inspiration came from Lord Ram, as he posted his thoughts ahead of the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Adipurush writer Manoj Muntashir acknowledges mistakes; says the film failed to ‘connect with audiences’

Prabhas starrer Adipurush, released on June 16, boasted one of the massive openings at the box office of the year, but the film drew criticism for the wrong portrayal of the Hindu epic Ramayana. The movie’s director Om Raut and writer Manoj Muntashir were heavily trolled and faced widespread criticism over the dialogues, screenplay and special effects.

The makers of the movie were also forced to remove certain dialogues from the movie after the movie stirred controversy. Now, Manoj Muntashir has acknowledged the mistake in the making of Adipurush.

In a recent interview with Lallantop, Muntashir admitted to the film’s shortcomings. “Adipurush is a film which was made with good intentions, but it was wrong, and by accepting this, I will not become small,” he stated.

Muntashir elaborated on the film’s original vision, explaining that while the intention was to resonate with the “youngsters and children”, it fell short of connecting with the audience.

The acclaimed lyricist and film writer revealed that the makers of Adipurush aimed to communicate the idea that a leader transcends conventional notions, portraying that one can embody qualities akin to Lord Ram and Bajrangbali, not limited to the stereotypical Captain America. Muntashir admitted that their oversight might have been confusing simplicity with oversimplification, acknowledging, “We became very much simplistic.”

The film faced severe criticism for its dialogues, with the infamous Kapda tere baap ka. Tel tere baap ka. Aag bhi tere baap ki. Toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki line sparking outrage. Muntashir shed light on the team’s perspective, admitting that they viewed it through the lens of Ramleela, but acknowledged the oversight. He asserted that he couldn’t affirm the film’s proper execution. “I did not make the film; the sooner people understand this, the better,” he conceded.

Muntashir had previously taken to the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to express an unconditional apology, stating that he accepts “public sentiments” were hurt by the film. After initially defending his work in the film, he tweeted, “With folded hands, I apologize unconditionally to all my brothers and sisters, elders, respected saints, and devotees of Shri Ram.”

The portrayal of characters such as Ravana and Lord Hanuman, coupled with contentious dialogues, left viewers disappointed. With only hours to go before the Diwali celebrations get underway across India, preparations are in full swing in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, which is gearing up to light 24 lakh diyas at 51 ghats. A sand art, portraying the life and times of Lord Ram as part of the festive celebrations, has all the attention in the holy city.

After Adipurush debacle, Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan to make a return to TV

As Om Raut’s Adipurush continues to nosedive at the box office, Shemaroo TV has announced that Ramanand Sagar’s iconic show Ramayan will soon be available on TV for fans to re-watch. The mythological show will air every day from July 3 at 7:30 PM on the channel.

Shemaroo TV made the announcement by sharing a small clip of the popular show from the 1980s, Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia played the titular roles of Ram and Sita and Sunil Lahiri played the role of Lakshman.

Since the release of the film Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, viewers have been comparing the film with the classic TV show. Almost everyone agreed that Ramanand Sagar’s adaptation of the Hindu epic was miles ahead.

The Ramayan TV show was also re-run during the first wave of COVID-19 after much public demand. The re-telecast was available on Doordarshan.

Coming back to Adipurush, the film has been widely criticised for factual errors, distasteful dialogues and poor VFX work. The lead roles of Ram and Sita are played by Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in the film, while the roles of Hanuman and Ravan are played by Devdatta Nage and Saif Ali Khan, respectively.

Earlier, Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem Sagar reacted to Adipurush and questioned how co-writer Manoj Muntashir “conceived such dialogues”, reported by news agency ANI.

The film had successfully generated great buzz before its release. Due to this, Adipurush had a mega opening as it minted Rs 86.75 crore on its opening day. The film then earned Rs 65.25 crore on its first Saturday and Rs 69.10 crore on Sunday.

By Monday, Adipurush nosedived at the box office and collected only Rs 20 crore as the negative reviews spread.

The film has witnessed a further dip ever since and earned only Rs 1.90 crore, as per early estimates on its 12th day at the domestic box office. Adipurush‘s total earnings at the domestic box office stand at Rs 279.78 crore as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

The makers of Prabhas starrer Adipurush have released the second song from the film, Ram Siya Ram, on YouTube and the fans can stop praising the soothing track.

The terrific video of the song offers an insight into Raghav and Janaki’s exile in the forest. The video shows how Raghav and Janaki get to spend several lovely moments in the wonders of nature. It is worth noting that the Ram Siya Ram song is a recreated version of a popular bhajan.

The Ram Siya Ram song has broken the Internet with over 3 million views in just a few hours on YouTube.

The lyrical video features Prabhas as Raghav and Kriti Sanon as Janaki in this cinematic adaptation of the epic Ramayana. Filmmaker Om Raut’s magnum opus is going to be one of the biggest releases of 2023 and has grabbed the headlines of late.

Ram Siya Ram has been composed by Parampara Tandon and Sachet Tandon, popularly known as Sachet-Parampara. The duo has also sung the melodious track. As Adipurush is being released on a pan-India level, the Ram Siya Ram song has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

The trailer of filmmaker Om Raut’s magnum opus Adipurush, was leaked on social media, hours before its official release today, May 9. Earlier, the makers had organised a special screening of the trailer for a bunch of fans in Hyderabad following which the leaked trailer surfaced online.

The screening was attended by the lead pair of the film, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. Director Om Raut and co-producer Bhushan Kumar were also present at the special screening.

The leaked trailer went viral all over the internet forcing fans and makers of the film to take action against it.

Most of the accounts, who shared the leaked trailer, have faced action from Twitter.

Southern superstar Prabas on Saturday, on the auspicious occasion of Sita Navami, revealed a new motion poster of his much-anticipated film Adipurush featuring Kriti Sanon as ‘Janaki’.

The motion picture reveals the look of Kriti Sanon as Janaki. The actress also shared the video of the motion poster on Twitter. “The righteous saga of Siya Ram,” she wrote.

In the poster, the actress is seen dressed in a light saffron saree with tears in her eyes and the soulful melody of ‘Ram Siya Ram’ playing in the background.

As soon as the poster was shared, fans flooded the post with praises for the actress. One user wrote, “This is so powerful kriti sanon you nailed it”

Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush has created a buzz since its updated teaser with the new VFX work released last week. Earlier, on Akshaya Tritiya day on April 22, the makers had revealed the first look of Prabhas as Lord Ram in ‘Adipurush’.

Apart from Kriti and Prabhas, the film also features Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist Ravana in the cinematic adaptation of the epic Ramayana.

The film helmed by Om Raut will be released globally on June 16 and it will first be shown at the Tribeca Festival on June 13. As per reports, the film’s trailer is likely to be released on May 17.

Earlier the makers faced criticism for the poor VFX and special effects work of the film. Following the heavy criticism, the release date was pushed back to rework the entire special effects of the film.

Adipurush is considered one of the biggest pan-India films as the mythological drama has been created on a budget of Rs 300 crore, according to reports.
