The total number of coronavirus cases in India on Monday jumped to 4,067 after close to 700 new infections added in past 24 hours, as per the latest data from the Union health ministry. The death toll from the pandemic has risen to 109 while as many as 291 cases have recovered, the government data showed.

Among states, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit with an overall tally of 690 cases. The state also reported the highest 45 fatalities from the COVID-19 virus. With 571 cases, Tamil Nadu is the second worst-hit state.
Delhi has recorded 503 cases, while Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh have reported between 100 and 400 cases so far.
