Wipro added more than 15,000 employees in first quarter as the attrition rate dips to 23.3%

Indian IT major Wipro has hired 15,446 employees in the first quarter of the 2022-23 financial year,. The attrition rate was 23.3 percent, slightly lower than the previous quarter’s 23.8 percent, but significantly higher than 15.5 percent during the corresponding quarter last year.

As of June 30, 2022, Wipro’s employee headcount was 258,574. This was an increase from 243,128 as of March 31, 2022. The company onboarded more than 10,000 freshers during the quarter, it said.

Thierry Delaporte, CEO of the software company, said last quarter that the company planned to hire 38,000 freshers this fiscal due to increased demand and attrition.

Wipro’s hiring in the reporting quarter has been higher as compared to its peers. HCL added 2,089 employees and its attrition rate rose to 23.8 percent as compared to 21.9 percent in the previous quarter, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had a total headcount of 606,331 employees. The IT company added 14,136 employees, and its attrition rate climbed up from 17.4 percent in the last quarter of the previous fiscal to to 19.7 percent in the reporting quarter.

The Bengaluru-based IT company reported a 20.6 percent year-on-year (YoY) decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,563.6 crore for the first quarter ended Jun 30, 2022, on higher expenses. In the corresponding quarter last year, the company posted a net profit of Rs 3,242.6 crore. Shares of Wipro Ltd ended at Rs 412.20, up by Rs 6.60, or 1.63 percent on the BSE.

What is attrition rate and why is it important

Attrition is the term used to describe the decline in an organization’s workforce. Both voluntary and involuntary attrition is possible. Employees who quit an organisation voluntarily do so in search of better opportunities or because they are dissatisfied with their existing employer.

When a company asks its employees to leave because of downsizing or the termination of job positions, it is known as involuntary attrition. A greater attrition rate suggests that employees are leaving the company more frequently, whereas a lower attrition rate suggests that employees are staying with the company longer.

In India currently, major IT firms in India are fighting high attrition rates. Hence the companies have started to hire more freshers and are trying to retain their existing employees and are trying their best to retain existing employees to bring down the attrition rate.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released the hall ticket for the June 2022 term-end examination today on its official website. The examination is scheduled to be conducted from July 22 to September 5, 2022.

Here’s how to download the admit card

Step 1: Visit ignou.ac.in.

Step 2. Find the link “Hall Ticket for June 2022 Term End Examination” displayed on the homepage and click on it.

Step 3: In the new window enter your login credentials such as Enrolment No. and program.

Step 4: Your IGNOU June TEE Hall Ticket 2022 will appear on the screen.

This year, the term-end exams will be held in two shifts. The morning session will start at 10 am and conclude at 1 pm and the evening session will start at 2 pm and conclude at 5pm.

All candidates are required to carry their TEE hall ticket to the exam centre or else they will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. All candidates are also advised to reach the examination centre at least one hour before the time of the examination. Candidates must follow all the instructions issued by the IGNOU authorities as well as instructions mentioned on the admit card.

HPCET 2022 results declared: Here’s how to view results and other details

Results of the Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test or HPCET 2022 have been announced by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU or HIMTU), Hamirpur. Candidates can view their results on the official website at himtu.ac.in.

The HPCET is conducted for admission to BTech, BPharm, MCA and MBA courses at participating institutes of Himachal Pradesh. On July 16, the university had released HPCET final answer key for BTech and BPharm courses on its website as well.

Here’s how to download HPCET Result 2022

Step 1: Visit himtu.ac.in, the official website of HPTU.

Step 2: Find and click on the highlighting link ‘Result of HPCET-2022’ link which is scrolling on top of the homepage

Step 3: On the result portal, search your HP CET result 2022 using your roll number or name

Step 4: Check your HPCET scorecard and download to save it

Step 5: Take a print out of your HPCET 2022 result in pdf format for future reference.

The HPCET 2022 result contains information such as the candidates’ personal information, roll number, qualifying status, total marks obtained in Part I, II, and III exam etc.

Following the announcement of the HPCET 2022 results, the exam authority is expected to release the HPCET merit list on the official website soon. A separate merit list based on qualifying marks and JEE Main 2022 exam results will be released as well.

Candidates who qualify the entrance exam will need to appear for the counselling process.

About 15 percent of the total seats are reserved under All India Quota (AIQ). The 65 percent seats are reserved for HP State Quota (HPSQ) and 5 percent of the total seats are reserved for non-resident Indians (NRI). The remaining 15 percent seats are reserved for management students in only private institutions.

HPTU conducted the HPCET entrance exam on June 16 to screen candidates who have applied in undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the universities and institutions across Himachal Pradesh.

Osmania University, Hyderabad, will release the TS PGECET 2022 hall tickets today. According to the university, the TS PGECET hall tickets 2022 are likely to be released by 5 pm today, after which candidates can download the Telangana State Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS PGECET) hall tickets from the official website https://pgecet.tsche.ac.in/.

The Telangana State Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Osmania University on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education for admission into regular PG courses in engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy (ME / M.Tech./ M.Pharmacy / M.Arch ), graduate level pharm-D (post baccalaureate) for the academic year 2022-2023.

The TS PGECET exam will be conducted between July 29 and August 1, 2022. Without the TS PGECET 2022 hall tickets, candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centres. Candidates are also advised to carry a valid ID proof along with the hall tickets to the exam centre.

How to download

Candidates who have applied to appear for the TS PGECET 2022 exam can follow the steps given below to download the hall tickets.

Candidates will have to visit the official website https://pgecet.tsche.ac.in/.

They will have to click on the direct link to download the hall ticket that will be available from today evening.

Candidates will be asked to enter their login credentials in the required fields. They will have to key in their application number and date of birth.

Once the candidate submits the details, the hall ticket of TS PGECET 2022 will appear on the screen.

Candidates will have to download the hall ticket and keep a hard copy for showing it at the exam centre.

Every year, thousands of candidates apply for the TS PGECET exam for admissions to colleges across Telangana. After the exam concludes, TS PGECET answer key and results will be declared, following which TS PGECET counselling for admissions will take place.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the admit card for the Session 2 of the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2022, today on the official website. The Session 2 exam city intimation slips will be released before the admit cards. The JEE Main Session 2 exams were earlier scheduled to be held from July 21 to 30.

However, the exam was postponed to a later date which is likely to be July 23 or 24, 2022, Times Now reported. However, the NTA is likely to release the admit cards for the exam soon. Once released, candidates can download the admit card from the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Here is how to download the JEE Mains Session 2 admit card

Step 1: Go to the official website of the exam portal at  www.jeemain.nta.nic.in

Step 3: Login using your credentials such as application number, date of birth, and security pin.

CA intermediate result 2022 date announced — check details

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will release the CA intermediate result 2022 on Thursday, July 21. The chartered accountants intermediate examination was held in May. Dubai is on its way to becoming one of the world’s top 10 metaverse economies under the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, by supporting over 40,000 virtual jobs. The strategy is expected to add $4 billion to the city’s GDP in five years.

The Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the launch of the strategy on Twitter on Monday, stating its objectives and pillars. “Dubai is home to over 1,000 companies operating in the metaverse and blockchain sector, which contributes $500 million to our national economy,” he tweeted.

IGNOU extends re-registration date till July 31: Here’s how to apply

IGNOU has extended the re-registration dates for the July 2022 session till July 31. Candidates who could not re-register earlier can now enrol for the courses at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) by visiting the official website http://ignou.ac.in/.

Only those candidates who are willing to take admission for the next semester or academic year programme will be allowed to re-register.

Earlier, July 15 was the last date for IGNOU July 2022 re-registration.

Eligibility

IGNOU re-registration 2022 option is available to those candidates who are already admitted in a postgraduate or undergraduate course offered by the university. For example, a candidate who took admission in a BA programme in January 2021 is eligible to take 2nd year registration from January 2022 session.

IGNOU July 2022 re-registration process had started from May 20 for both Indian and international students of the university. Candidates who live abroad can apply for IGNOU 2022 re-registration in online mode.

Candidates can follow the simple steps given below to apply for IGNOU re-registration 2022.

• Candidates need to visit the official website http://ignou.ac.in/.
• They will have to click on the re-registration section under the ‘register online’ tab on the homepage.
• Then, they can click on ‘Proceed for Re-Registration’.
• Students will have to register and get a username and password.
• They will then have to log in and fill the application form.
• Once the details have been keyed in, students will have to upload the necessary documents.
• They will then have to pay the application fee and submit the form. Students will be asked to pay the application fee through the prescribed gateways to complete the registration.

Though reports hint at the start of a hiring slowdown, several segments continue to recruit in significant numbers as the need for sustainable businesses and practices grows. And hence, there is a demand for roles in green jobs.

A global climate school and careers platform Terra.do is hosting India’s first online climate jobs fair on its app starting Tuesday. Recruiters and hiring managers from TATA Power, ElectricPe, Pyse, String Bio, and Climes, among others, are expected to offer jobs in the recruitment drive.

Earlier this month, Monster.com released its June Monster Employment Index (MEI), according to which the Indian industry saw a rise in momentum driven by increased demand for green jobs. This segment, estimated to attract investments worth Rs 8 lakh crore by 2025, has witnessed increasing tech innovation and use of chemicals in industrial operations and manufacturing, widening its demand for a wider range of skills and experience, Monster.com said in its report.

Green jobs are available in which segments?

According to a Terra.do statement shared exclusively with CNBCTV18.com, in its job fair, companies are hiring across levels and will offer jobs in software, hardware, and design, data science and analysis, managerial, communication, research, sales, consumer relations, etc.

Job profiles include react native, frontend developer, UX/UI designers, iOS developers, devOps, full stack, web developer, product development, sustainability expert, researchers, business and sales managers, and consumer and business relations.

The employers are offering remote and on-site jobs across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and other tier-I cities, Terra.do said.

The institute added that employers are from industries including power, energy and renewable energy, automobile, big data, finance, biotechnology, and GeoScience. While some companies are climate tech, others are transitioning to sustainability and a climate-conscious business mode, it said.

What are companies offering

Tata Power said it has two positions open for ‘sustainability lead’, and it is offering CTCs in the range of Rs 15-25 lakh per annum.

Pyse is hiring in the range of Rs 15-30 lakh per annum for roles in brand and content marketing, product management, and community management.

ElectricPe did not reveal salary brackets but said it was recruiting for roles of SDE (Fullstack), business analyst, business development executive, inside sales executive, UI/UX designer, social media and graphic designer.

Climes, an early startup backed by Sequoia, has positions open for carbon accountant, growth, marketing, design and engineering.

Candidates need to register on Terra.do’s app. Registration for employers, recruiters and hiring managers is also open. The event is free for all.

On the app, the candidates can shortlist the roles they are interested in and attend live presentations by the employers, followed by Q&A.

The app will also allow candidates to deep dive with hiring managers 1:1 to understand more about the company’s culture, team growth, problems they are solving, and more, the institute said.

Anshuman Bapna, CEO and co-founder of Terra.do, said that by 2030, the company aims to bring 100 million climate professionals into the workforce to solve the climate crisis.

Bapna also pointed to a PwC report that states climate tech is booming across sectors. “Green Jobs are being created every minute in tech and business functions ranging from software engineering to marketing to business development and more,” he said.

He added that the government had also launched the Skill Council for green jobs aligned to the National Skill Development Mission, promoted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Delhi and Tamil Nadu governments, among others, have also promised green jobs in their policies, he said.

The Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) will announce the results of the Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnic UPJEE (P) 2022 today. Candidates who appeared for the UPJEE (P) can check their results on https://jeecup.admissions.nic.in/ once they are announced in the evening.

The UPJEE (P) is a state-level examination that is conducted for admissions in the government and private polytechnic colleges of Uttar Pradesh. The computer-based exam is conducted for engineering diploma, management and post-diploma courses.

The UPJEE (P) 2022 entrance examination was conducted in online mode from June 27 to 30. Earlier, it was scheduled to commence from June 6, but it got deferred to June 27. The JEECUP 2022 answer key was released on July 3.

Counselling round
