Foreign portfolio investor buys 9 lakh Mayur Uniquoters shares

Small Cap World Fund, a foreign portfolio investor,  bought about 9 lakh shares of Mayur Uniquoters from the market yesterday. They were existing shareholders in the company.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Suresh Kumar Poddar, CMD & CEO of Mayur Uniquoters said that the company is expecting a better growth this year at around 15% to 17%.

Talking about the business of the company this year, Poddar said “Things are looking lucrative. The market was down last year because of GST and demonetization. I expect that the market will be fine in the coming next or 2 months.”

“We are trying to cut costs to increase efficiency to keep the margin intact but the decisions will be taken within 2 weeks”, he said.

Prakash Industries is under pressure after allegations by ‘Right To Information’ (RTI) activist Kunal Shukla on possible benami transactions.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Ved Prakash Agarwal, Chairman of Prakash Industries discussed the issue in detail.

“The facts are different than what they have projected and there is nothing at all which is adverse in the case of the company. Everything is fine with the company and I assure all that everything is on board”, he said.

“The transactions that the activist is talking about is relating to the year 2014-2015 and these relate to the sale proceeds of the company. These transactions have already been assessed by the various sales tax department and at all the levels, the company has been assessed, so there is nothing pending against the company”, he added.

FY19 room AC market to grow 15-20%: Blue Star

Air conditioner maker Blue Star has launched 40 new AC models after Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast of  a scorching summer.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, B Thiagarajan, Managing Director of the company said that it was a festival time for the air-conditioner manufacturers. “These days I look forward to a great summer as well as a great monsoon because we have to keep the full year in picture”, he said.

Thiagarajan predicts that the market would grow by around 12 percent and Blue Star’s growth is expected to be 17-18 percent.

“The expected growth for the summer season is around 20 percent and one should aim to grow around 30-40 percent during summer so that for the full year, you will have a substantial growth. My estimate for FY19, room air-conditioner market should grow anywhere between 15-20 percent”, he further mentioned.

According to him, the company will grow around 500 basis points more than the market to end with a market share of 11.5 percent.

Shareholders approve fund infusion plan by government: IFCI

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, BN Nayak, CFO of IFCI spoke about the latest happenings in his company and sector.

“Shareholders have approved Rs 100 crore infusion into the company on March 7, 2018”, he said.

“Net non-performing assets (NPA) came down to 23 percent and we are hoping to improving asset quality next year”, he added.

“50 percent of the company’s gross NPAs is with National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT)”, said Nayak.

Fear that more skeletons could come out of closet in banking sector: Vikas Gattani

Vikas Gattani, Founder & CEO of Progress India Opportunities Fund manages about a hundred million dollars and has previously worked with JPMorgan, Merrill Lynch and UBS.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Gattani spoke about his reading of the market and his outlook.

“Long-term capital gains (LTCG) was a definite negative both, from a foreign and domestic investor’s point of view. We expect further selling pressure till the end of month of March”, he said.

“Interest rates in India have definitely bottomed out and with the rise in inflation and inflation expectations, we see that rates in India are also likely to rise and that is not helping the market as well”, he added.

“While the steps for resolution of stressed assets have been taken and issues have been addressed, there is always a fear that more skeletons may come out of the closet and that is also not helping the sentiment”, said Gattani.

According to him, tightening of trade finance by banks could also put a dent in the economic functioning.

Speaking on real estate sector, he said that with proper implementation of goods and services tax (GST) and real estate regulatory authority (RERA), weaker realty players will move out of the system in 12-18 months.

“Remain overweight in non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and looking to add to our positions”, he further mentioned.
