How IPL 2024’s 10 most expensive players have performed so far
The league stage of IPL 2024 will complete its halfway mark with the end of the Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The DC vs SRH match is the 35th match of the league stage which will have 70 matches. With the league phase reaching its half-way mark, here is a look at the performances of the 10 most expensive players of IPL 2024.Mitchell Starc | Fees: Rs 24.75 Crore | Bought by: Kolkata Knight Riders | Mitchell Starc is IPL’s most-expensive player as KKR spent Rs 24.75 Crore to buy him. However, the left-arm pacer has failed to live up the expectations as he has managed to pick only 5 wickets in 6 matches. Starc has gone wicketless in 4 games and also conceded plenty of runs. (Image: AP)Pat Cummins | Fees: 20.50 Crore | Bought by: Sunrisers Hyderabad | Pat Cummins is the second-most expensive player in IPL’s history as SRH broke bank to sign the Australian captain for Rs. 20.50 Crore. Cummins was made the captain of the team ahead of the start of the season. Cummins is again proving his captaincy mettle as under him SRH is displaying aggressive brand of cricket especially in batting. This season, SRH has broken the record of the highest IPL total twice. Cummins is also proving to be a highly effective bowler as he has picked 9 wickets in 6 matches and has claimed at least one wicket in every match. Mitchell has played six of CSK’s seven matches so far but is having a below average season. As a batter Mitchell has produced a score of over 30 only once and only in one game he was asked to bowl in which he picked a wicket. Mitchell needs to step up if CSK aims to qualify for the playoffs. Patel was expected to bring in IPL experience .The former RCB pacer has been a regular for Punjab Kings as he has played each of the seven matches thus far. Patel is also in wicket-taking form as he has picked 10 wickets this season. The West Indian has played only three matches this season and claimed only one wicket. After RCB’s match against KKR, the 27-year-old lost his place in the team’s playing XI. Both, Joseph and RCB, will be itching to bounce back and finish the league phase on a high.
