Lamont Marcell Jacobs, of Italy, became the fastest man in the world after winning the final of the men’s 100-meters at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo. Neeraj Chopra created history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in the track and field event after he secured gold in the javelin throw. His gold, coming at the late end of the event sealed for the country what was its greatest performance in the Summer Olympics.
