Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken his silence on the violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in Galwan Valley. Addressing a virtual meet with state chief ministers today, PM Modi said though India wants peace, the nation is capable of giving a befitting response if provoked. He promised that the sacrifice of the soldiers won’t go in vain.

China’s foreign ministry spokesperson has said the country does not wish to see more clashes. However, China blamed India for crossing the border and making “provocative gestures”. The spokesperson confirmed once again that China suffered casualties, but stopped short of revealing details.
