Summary
Launching at ₹52,999, the Google Pixel 8a features cutting-edge AI, durable design, advanced cameras, and a long-lasting software support promise. It is available exclusively on Flipkart from May 14, with pre-orders starting May 7.
Google has officially launched its latest smartphone, the Pixel 8a, which promises to bring premium artificial intelligence (AI) features and durability into a more affordable price bracket. Starting at ₹52,999, the Pixel 8a is powered by Google’s newest Tensor G3 chip, offering consumers capabilities similar to those found in the flagship Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models.
The Pixel 8a debuts with a sleek design that includes rounded edges, a matte finish on the back, and a polished aluminium frame. It is available in four colours: Aloe and Bay, which are new to the A-series, as well as the classic Obsidian and Porcelain. The phone also introduces a larger storage option of 256GB, catering to users who require additional space for their digital content.
The device is equipped with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel main lens and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. A 13-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide field of view is also present for capturing group selfies. Google’s Tensor G3 chip enhances the camera’s capabilities with AI-powered tools such as Best Take, which helps users select optimal expressions in group photos, and Magic Editor for easy photo adjustments.
The Pixel 8a also boasts a new Actua display that is 40% brighter than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a, and features a faster 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling. Google’s commitment to durability is evident as the company claims that the Pixel 8a is the most robust A-Series phone to date, designed to withstand slips, spills, and dust.
Google’s AI technology extends beyond photography, with features like Gemini, an AI assistant that aids in various tasks such as writing notes or planning vacations. Circle to Search simplifies information retrieval by allowing users to search directly from images, text, or videos without switching apps. Additionally, the phone introduces Audio Emojis for more expressive phone calls.
The new Pixel model has an improved setup process that allows parents and guardians to establish digital ground rules from the start. Family Link integration offers control over privacy settings, screen time limits, and location sharing.
The Pixel 8a includes the Titan M2 security chip alongside the Google Tensor G3 chip. The phone will receive seven years of software support, including security updates and Android OS upgrades.
The Pixel 8a (128GB) is priced at ₹52,999 while the 256GB variant will be available for ₹59,999. Pre-orders begin on May 7 at 9:30 pm, with sales starting on May 14 at 6:30 AM IST exclusively on Flipkart.
