Virat Kohli lashes out at cricket experts for strike rate criticism in IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli lashed out at experts for criticising his strike rate after the Faf du Plessis-led side beat the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

RCB chased down 201 in 16 overs against the home team, with Kohli remaining unbeaten till the end, thanks to his 70-run knock off 44 deliveries. The opener struck six boundaries and three maximums to maintain a strike rate of 159.09 to see his side home in this crunch encounter against the misfiring Titans.

“I think all the people who put up strike rates and about me not playing spin well, are the ones who love talking about this stuff. For me, it’s about winning the game for the team. There’s a reason you have done it for 15 years, day in and day out,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation.

“I am not sure if you have not been in that situation yourself, to sit and speak about the game from the box, I don’t think it’s the same thing, so for me it’s just about doing my job, people can talk about ideas for the game, but for me it’s kind of a muscle memory now,” he added.

Kohli has now scored 500 runs in 10 IPL matches this season. He has maintained an average of 71.43, with a strike rate of 147.79. Kohli has notched four half-centuries and a solitary ton, hitting 46 boundaries and 20 sixes, leading the Orange Cap race at the moment.
