Punjab Kings (PBKS) speedster Harshal Patel has explained the reason behind his muted celebration after dismissing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star MS Dhoni for a golden duck during their fixture in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharamshala on Sunday.
“I’ve had too much respect for MS Dhoni, so I didn’t celebrate much after getting his wicket,” Harshal said in the mid-innings break, after CSK had been restricted for 167 in the first innings.

They produced a cohesive bowling performance, with Tushar Deshpande leading the charge by taking two wickets in the second over of the match, dismissing PBKS’ top-order duo of Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw.

Mitchell Santner bowled an economical spell, giving away 10 runs in three overs in exchange of a wicket, i.e. of in-form batter Shashank Singh.
Ravindra Jadeja scored 44 with the bat, which was the highest amongst all batters of the CSK. He then returned to take three wickets with the ball, conceding 20 runs in his 24 deliveries. Jadeja took the key wickets of Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, and Ashutosh Sharma.
CSK found a new star with the ball, with Delhi pacer Simranjeet Singh come in as an Impact Player and scalping thrice in three overs, whilst conceding 16 runs. Jitesh Sharma and Harshal were outdone by the lanky speedster, whereas Shardul Thakur capped off proceedings by knocking over Rahul Chahar in the 18th over.
