NSE, BSE to remain closed on May 1 for Maharashtra Day

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are closed on Wednesday, 1 on the account of Maharashtra Day (Labour Day).
The day commemorates the formation of the Maharashtra state on May 1, 1960.
Trading in equities, derivatives, SLBs, interest rate derivatives and currrency derivatives will be shut for the day.
The comodity derivatives segment will be closed during the morning session – 9 am to 5 pm. However, the evening session – 5 pm to 11.55 pm – will remain open.
Trading on both stock exchanges will resume on Thursday, May 2.
During the previous trade session on Tuesday, April 30, Indian benchmakr indices Nifty50 and Sensex ended in the red in a highly volatile session. Nifty 50 ended at 22,604.85, after it touched its record high of 22,783.35 earlier in the session. Meanwhile, Sensex ended at 74,482.78.
Apart from May 1, the stock exchanges will also be closed on Maay 20 on account of the Lok Sabha polls in Mumbai. All six seats in the city will go to polls on May 20 in the fifth phase of the general elections.
