‘India is in a good spot’: Mihir Vora of Trust MF likes these investment themes
Summary
Vora, whose maiden equity fund launched earlier this month and has already mobilised nearly ₹500 crore in assets, says the portfolio will increasingly favour mid-sized and small companies, aligning with three main investment themes: premium consumption, financialisation of savings, and technological disruption.
With ample scope for stock picking, India is relatively in a good spot, according to Mihir Vora, Chief Investment Officer at Trust Mutual Fund.
“We are hoping that the themes that we talked about, which is the domestic economy, including consumption, physical asset creation, will continue to do well over the next few years. And as we talk about the sub themes, I think there is enough excitement in the stock picking space,” he said in a conversation with CNBC-TV18.
Trust MF, which launched its first equity fund called TrustMF Flexi Cap Fund earlier in April, has mobilised around ₹500 crore in assets so far.
Vora says the portfolio’s orientation is expected to increasingly favor mid-sized and small companies, adhering to these three main investment themes: premium consumption, financialisation of savings, and technological disruption.
Premium consumption encompasses high-end discretionary spending on both services and goods, while financialisation will cover capital market activities including wealth management, broking, asset management, and insurance, which are integral to large-scale savings and physical asset creation like infrastructure and real estate.
Technological disruption will also play a key role, as new and innovative business models emerge within the sector.
