Alternate asset classes in residential real estate like student housing and co-living are picking momentum gradually. Interestingly, both of these are based on the concept of shared resources that have emerged as a need due to rising costs. The rise of these asset classes is gaining prominence in the eyes of both domestic and overseas investment firms.

CNBC-TV18’s Manisha Natrajan caught up with Boman Irani, chairman and managing director at Rustomjee Group; Subodh Runwal, director of Runwal Group; Uday Lakkar, founder and CEO of CoHo and Dev Santani, senior vice president at Brookfield Asset Management, at the CII JLL conference and discussed traditional residential development, and how developers are diversifying into new alternative asset classes for better yields.
