In an interaction with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates at his residence, PM Modi said, “When I used to hear about the digital divide in the world, I used to think that I would not allow anything like that to happen in my country. Digital public infrastructure is a major requirement in itself…Women are more open to adopting new technology in India.”
He elaborated on the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ scheme, emphasising its pivotal role in fostering technological inclusivity, particularly among women. “Many of them, who previously couldn’t ride a bicycle, are now skilled drone pilots. It’s a testament to the changing mindset,” added PM Modi.
PM Modi also told Gates that in the event of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing another term in power, dedicated funds would be allocated towards cervical cancer research. “We plan to allocate resources to scientists for local research initiatives in cervical cancer, aiming to provide vaccinations to all girls,” he said.
When Gates inquired about technological advancements that intrigued him, PM Modi underscored the transformative potential of technology across the agriculture, healthcare, and education sectors.
