The Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 20 seats in Kerala. With a population of 3,301,427 as per the 2011 census, the district boasts considerable electoral importance. The voter turnout at the Thiruvananthapuram seat until 9 am was 10.37%, and till 11.30 am was 23.18%. It increased to 39.13% at 1.20 pm. By 3.35 pm, the voter turnout increased to 48.4%. By 5.36 pm, the polling percentage increased to 62.56% and rose to 65.37% by the time polling closed.
The 2019 Lok Sabha elections saw a significant turnout of 73.66%.
The Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat comprises seven Assembly segments — Thiruvananthapuram, Kazhakuttom, Vattiyoorkavu, Nemom, Kovalam, Neyyattinkara, and Parassala.
The seat has been a stronghold for the Congress party with Shashi Tharoor winning three consecutive terms: 2009, 2014, and 2019 from here. Tharoor was seen standing in a queue waiting to cast his vote for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, in Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday (as seen in the PTI photo above).
Kerala has recorded a voter turnout of 40.21% until 1.20 pm.

Polling is currently underway in Thiruvananthapuram today on April 26 as part of Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha elections. Votes will be counted on June 4.
