A lookout circular has been issued for the arrest of Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sexually abusing women, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Thursday, April 2. Despite Prajwal’s request for seven more days to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) due to his being abroad, the Minister stated that there is no provision to grant more than 24 hours.

Meanwhile, at an election rally in Shivamogga, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for endorsing Prajwal during the election campaign. Accusing Prajwal Revanna of raping 400 women and filming them, Gandhi claimed that Modi and other BJP leaders knew about Prajwal’s actions but still supported him, forming an alliance with JD(S).
“The PM has insulted every woman of India. The PM, Home Minister Amit Shah and all the BJP leaders should apologise to every woman of the country, he charged, claiming that no leader in the world would have asked for votes for a ‘mass rapist’. It is news worldwide that the PM solicited votes for a mass rapist. This is BJP’s ideology. They are ready to form alliances and do anything for power,” Gandhi said.
Gandhi’s remark comes amid the ongoing war of words between party leaders over the alleged sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna. Senior JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy recently accused Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar recently of circulating the videos and setting up an SIT to probe the matter.
Responding to Kumaraswamy’s claims, Shivakumar criticised BJP leaders, including Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy, for not speaking in favor of the victims and urged them to visit the victims’ families and offer support. He dismissed Kumaraswamy’s claims, stating that Prajwal’s actions were serious and emphasised the need for justice for the victims.
Prajwal, grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and son of MLA and former Minister H D Revanna, allegedly was involved in explicit video clips circulating in Hassan recently. He contested the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency under the NDA banner, with polling held on April 26.
A woman filed a police complaint accusing Prajwal and his father of sexual harassment, with another victim coming forward later. The Minister mentioned that the statements of the victims have been recorded, and further complaints have been lodged.
