Summary

Earlier, Sisodia had withdrawn his interim bail plea to participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections campaign. The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has deferred its decision on Sisodia’s regular bail requests until April 30.

A Delhi court, on Friday, extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, a leader of the AAP, Vijay Nair, and others until May 8, 2024. This is in relation to a money laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Earlier, Sisodia had withdrawn his interim bail plea to participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections campaign. The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has deferred its decision on Sisodia’s regular bail requests until April 30.

In a related case, the court also extended the custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K Kavitha until May 7. This case, linked to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy, has seen Kejriwal implicated as a key conspirator by the Enforcement Directorate. However, this has sparked controversy due to concerns over medical issues and food restrictions during custody.

The court has also postponed its decision on K Kavitha’s bail plea until May 6, following an eight-day custody period that ended on April 23. This investigation centres around alleged payments made by the AAP.

In a separate development, an FIR has been filed against K Sudhakar, a BJP candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, for allegedly attempting to bribe voters in Karnataka.

Lastly, the custody of Kejriwal, Kavitha, and Chanpreet Singh has been extended until May 7 in a separate ruling. Kejriwal, who is reportedly receiving insulin, has been denied access to a private doctor. They are due to appear in court for further proceedings on May 7.
