The upcoming election has transformed into a personal showdown within one household. In an unexpected turn of events, Mridula Katheria, the wife of Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ram Shankar Katheria, is set to challenge him directly for the Etawah seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Taking a bold step, Mridula has officially submitted her nomination as an Independent candidate for the Etawah Lok Sabha constituency, positioning herself as a contender against her own husband.
Expressing her determination, Mridula told ANI, “I have submitted my nomination as an Independent candidate. I am committed to contesting this election and will be running against him (BJP MP Ram Shankar Katheria).”

The Etawah Lok Sabha seat comprises Etawah, Bharthana, Auraiya, Dibiyapur, and Sikandra Assembly segments. It has 18.23 lakh voters.
In the 2019 General Elections, Mridula had filed nomination papers from Etawah but later withdrew them. Katheria won the seat by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Kamlesh Kumar by over 64,000 votes.
