Lok Sabha elections 2024: Banks and schools to remain closed in these cities for phase 2 voting

As many as 88 seats across 13 states and Union Territories, including the remaining part of the Outer Manipur constituency, will be up for grabs in the second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections scheduled for Friday, April 26.
Given the general elections, banks will remain closed in some cities, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar for 2024. These include cities like Bengaluru, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Jammu among others.
A few states have also announced a paid or public holiday for employees on the voting day. Meanwhile, schools and colleges will remain closed in the cities where polling will be held on Friday.
Closing schools and colleges helps the government to facilitate the smooth conduct of the electoral process, besides ensuring the safety and security of students, teachers, and staff.
2024 Lok Sabha elections: Second phase
In the second phase, voting will be held in 88 constituencies in 13 states and Union Territories, including the remaining areas in the Outer Manipur constituency.
Assam: Karimganj, Silchar, Mangaldoi, Nawgong, and Kaliabor.
Bihar: Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur, and Banka.
Chhattisgarh: Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, and Kanker.
Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu.
Karnataka: Udupi Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Chikballapur, Kolar.
Kerala: Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Ponnani, Kasaragod, Kannur, Vadakara, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Alathur, Thrissur, Chalakudy, Alappuzha, Mavelikkara, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Attingal, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Manipur: Outer Manipur (remaining parts).
Madhya Pradesh: Rewa, Hoshangabad, Betul, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, and Satna.
Maharashtra: Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal Washim, Buldhana, Akola, Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani.
Rajasthan: Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota, and Jhalawar-Baran
Tripura: Tripura East
Uttar Pradesh: Gautam Buddha Nagar, Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Mathura.
West Bengal: Raiganj, Darjeeling, and Balurghat.
Voting for the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
