Severe heat wave to persist in Odisha till Sunday, heavy rain expected in northeast till April 24: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued advisories highlighting the continuation of a severe heat wave over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha until Sunday, April 21.
The IMD said that temperatures will gradually decrease thereafter.
Simultaneously, Northeast India may see heavy rain and thunderstorms till April 24.
In Central and South Peninsular India, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong gusty winds are forecasted until April 22.
Earlier, news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that a sixty-two-year-old Laxmikanta Sahu of Maheshpur in Balasore district died due to sunstroke on April 15.
“This was the first sunstroke death this summer,” an official at the Special Relief Commissioner’s office said.
