Met Gala 2024: When and where to watch the Oscars of fashion

From Hollywood celebrities to designers and industry insiders, the Met Gala night is when they all come together. Organised by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, the Met Gala 2024 is scheduled for Monday, May 6, at 6:00 pm ET.

In India, the live streaming of the Oscars of the fashion will begin on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 3:30 am.

This year, Vogue will be hosting the night’s exclusive livestream on Vogue.com, as well as across its digital platforms, its YouTube channel and its TikTok account.

In addition, the Vogue team will also live-blog their thoughts and reactions from the red carpet and provide context to all of the greatest looks.

The Met Gala livestream will be hosted by actor Gwendoline Christie, producer and actor La La Anthony, and model Ashley Graham. Emma Chamberlain, a multihyphenate, will be back as Vogue’s special reporter, interviewing some of the biggest stars on the carpet.

For 2024, the theme of the Met Gala is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, suggesting that the event will see unique garments from four centuries ago being reborn to be displayed.

“The exhibition—which will be on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 10th to September 2nd this year—will spotlight 250 items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, including some very rarely seen in public before. All of the works will be displayed in entirely new ways—utilizing elements such as video animation, CGI, AI, and more,” the Vogue said.

The dress code for the Met Gala 2024 for celebrities is ‘The Garden of Time’ which takes inspiration from a short story of the same title, written by JG Ballard in 1962.

The guest list is not made public but high-profile figures from the entertainment and fashion industries are expected.

According to Vogue, the co-chairs of the event will be Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny, and Anna Wintour of Vogue.

Meanwhile, TikTok CEO Shou Chew and Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson are the evening’s honorary chairs.
