The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the commencement of registrations for the highly anticipated University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2024). Starting today, April 20, aspiring candidates can officially apply for the UGC NET June Session 2024 by accessing the registration portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in once the NTA activates the registration link.
Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, the UGC chief, revealed through the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday that the NTA is expected to kickstart the application process and release the information bulletin for the UGC-NET June 2024 session very soon.
Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET June 2024 Exam
According to the announcements made by the UGC chief, candidates pursuing a Four Year/8 Semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme, including those in their final semester/year, are eligible to apply for the UGC-NET. Moreover, candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme can appear in a subject of their choice for Ph.D. regardless of the discipline of their bachelor’s degree.
Mode of Examination for UGC NET June 2024
The UGC NET June 2024 examination will be exclusively conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple shifts. It will comprise two papers, both featuring objective-type, multiple-choice questions. Candidates will be allotted a total duration of three hours for both papers, encompassing 150 questions in total.

According to data released by the NTA, a total of 9,45,918 candidates registered for the UGC NET exam last year, with 6,95,928 candidates appearing for the December 2023 exam held across 292 centers nationwide. The UGC NET December Exam 2023 was conducted between December 6 and December 14 by the NTA.
