Godrej Consumer launches Cinthol’s male grooming range

Homegrown FMCG firm, Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) is looking to garner revenue worth Rs 100 crore from the male grooming segment over the next two to three years.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18’s Ankita Saxena, Sunil Kataria, chief executive officer India and SAARC, said, “One big trend that we have been seeing in this country is the emergence of sunrise categories within male grooming. Men now want to be as groomed as women and that is a very big need.”

“When we studied the market, one thing which struck us was that men wanted it very simple. While men wanted to look good and well groomed, he still don’t want to spend as much time on care like women. So, they wanted it simplified. They wanted it little quick and hence, there was a crying need, saying, can you get something which gives us multiple benefits. So, those are the couple of insights which we picked up,” Kataria said.

“The moment you put deodorants in to male grooming market, it becomes Rs 3,000 crore. If we put deodorant itself, it’s roughly around Rs 2,000 crore. We have created some very disruptive products for each of these sub segments,” he added.
