FSIB recommends Asheesh Pandey as Managing Director of Indian Bank

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended Asheesh Pandey for the position of Managing Director of Chennai-based Indian Bank, on Wednesday, April 24. Pandey, presently serving as the executive director of Bank of Maharashtra, is set to replace S L Jain upon his superannuation.

“Taking into account their performance during the interface, overall experience, and the existing parameters, the Bureau recommends Asheesh Pandey for the position of Indian Bank,” stated FSIB. In its statement declaring the selection process results, FSIB revealed that 17 candidates were interviewed on April 23 and 24.

The final decision on FSIB’s recommendation will be made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. FSIB is led by former Department of Personnel and Training Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma.

Prior to joining Bank of Maharashtra, Pandey served as the Chief General Manager and COO at Union Bank of India. During his tenure as CGM, he played a pivotal role in various initiatives, including amalgamation, digitisation, and the implementation of doorstep banking. Pandey initiated his banking career at Corporation Bank, where he worked in the Industrial Finance Branch and later in the Investment and International Banking division in Mumbai.

Other members of the headhunter include Animesh Chauhan, former chairman and MD of the erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce, RBI’s former executive director Deepak Singhal, and Shailendra Bhandari, ex-MD of erstwhile ING Vysya Bank.
