Maruti Suzuki starts pre-booking for new-generation Swift at ₹11,000 per unit

Ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift in the Indian market on May 9, the leading carmaker has officially started accepting bookings for the upcoming hatchback.

Those interested can pre-book the fourth generation Swift by visiting the official website at marutisuzuki.com/swift or by visiting their nearest dealer, the company said in an exchange filing.

The company has set the booking amount at ₹11,000, while deliveries are expected to start from June onwards.

The all-new Swift is among the major launches by Maruti Suzuki in India this year. It will be followed by the unveiling of the next-generation Dzire compact sedan.

Calling it an iconic brand of the company, Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer, marketing & sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said that it has evolved with changing times to redefine customer expectations.

“Its 29-lakh strong customer base and numerous awards and accolades are a testament to how the iconic Swift has gone from strength to strength. The Epic New Swift stays true to its much-loved sporty DNA while balancing new-age expectations of environment friendliness with low emissions,” Banerjee was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.

Features and design

The fourth generation Swift is a heavily updated version of the last one, boasting a fresh design, an all-new engine and an updated interior layout.

It comes with a re-designed front bumper, having a new grille with chunky black surrounds. These are accompanied by re-designed smoked LED headlamps with DRLs. Going further below, it has a revised fog lamp housing with a splitter.

Another major update in the fourth generation is that the clamshell bonnet is a lot shallower at the sides, while the door handles for the rear doors have been placed back in their conventional location. In the third generation, they are on the C-pillar.

Besides them, the new version has a re-designed tailgate and a new bumper with a skid plate below, reports said.

Coming to interiors, the new Swift is majorly inspired by Fronx and Baleno.

Now, the Swift will come with a new dashboard layout, boasting a floating infotainment system with sleek AC vents and HVAC controls below.

Another big change on the new Swift is that now it will be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will replace the existing K12 four-cylinder engine.
