What is the IPL salary of PBKS centurion Jonny Bairstow?
Summary
Bairstow recovered from his recent slump in form to produce this sensational performance at the Eden Gardens. But, how much does he earn at PBKS?
Punjab Kings (PBKS) star Jonny Bairstow brought up his ton in 45 deliveries with the help of eight boundaries and maximums each during their chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Friday.
Bairstow has been undergoing a lean patch both in his international and franchise cricket career recently.
He was retained by PBKS ahead of this season, for a sum of ₹6.5 crores for which he was roped in by them in the mega auction of 2022. Prior to that, he represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the tournament, from 2019-21, and was paid ₹2.2 crore by them, where he developed a formidable opening partnership with David Warner.
Bairstow finished the innings with eight boundaries and nine maximums with 108 off 48 deliveries, staying unbeaten until the end to take PBKS home on this challenging away turf.
Bairstow has played 46 matches in the IPL, aggregating 1495 runs at an average of 35.60 and strike rate of 145.91 with the help of nine half-centuries and a couple of tons. This season, he has represented PBKS in seven clashes, recording 204 runs to go with an average of 34 and a strike rate of 168.60. For England, in the shortest format, Bairstow has smashed 1512 runs, averaging 29.64 at a strike rate of 137.57 with 10 half-centuries.
He also brings versatility to the setup with his wicket-keeping skills. However, he is not donning the gloves for PBKS, given that they have Jitesh Sharma performing those duties for them.
